Northbound Brewery
Authenticity and top-notch ingredients are at the heart of Northbound Brewery; you can try their craft beers for yourself in bars and restaurants around the city (including Nonna’s Wood Fired Pizzas, who have their own special Northbound ‘Birra’), or take a Beer & Cheese tour of Northbound and Dart Mountain Cheese.
Producing a beer, says Northbound’s master brewer David Rogers, is like conducting an orchestra. It’s all about timing and precision as you bring together the meticulously selected ingredients. But there’s plenty of flair required too, and a bit of LegenDerry magic, to make these handcrafted premium beers so note perfect. After a decade working in Australia, Scotsman David and his Irish wife Martina took a leap of faith, moving to Derry with their young family to pursue their dream of setting up their own brewery. They invested in a brewhouse in 2014 and today produce a hugely popular range of natural, unpasteurised, unfiltered craft beers bottled fresh on site, inspired by both the LegenDerry locality, and their travels around the world.
