The Green Cat Bakery
This Eglinton cafe, in a former carpenter’s dwelling, is warm, cosy and inviting. But what really hits you on arrival is the huge glass display cabinet at the counter, full of delicate meringues, gravity-defying gateaux, traditional pies, coconut macaroons and decadent slabs of chocolatey traybakes. As well as those sweet treats, there’s a seasonal, locally sourced breakfast and lunch menu, and in-house jams, chutneys and granola for you to stock up on. It’s little wonder fans travel from far and wide to the Green Cat, which started life selling pastries, cakes and cookies at local markets. And after tasting its delights, you’re sure to become a devotee too.
